Trekking
One of the main characteristics of the island's ecosystem is the presence of plants and animals never encountered in any other part of the world. The Babisuri (Bassariscus astutus saxicola) is a type of squirrel-looking fox which always comes to camp at night. On a hike you may also encounter the black hare (lepus insularis) or another type of squirrel of the desert (ammospermophilus isularis). Various types of cactus plants are found on the island, one in particular, the Viejitas (mammillaria albicans) is found on this island only. |
